How to Rejoice in Rejection

Most everyone has experienced the hurt that comes with being rejected. It is a pain that inflicts feelings of unworthiness, helplessness, insecurity, anger and many other unpleasant feelings, thoughts and emotions. It is such a difficult thing to deal with that the fear of rejection alone holds people back from reaching their highest potential and purpose in life. For many, avoiding anything that comes even close to a feel of rejection is the top priority. If you are one of these people, perhaps my personal experience can give you a different perspective. It's a perspective that turns rejection into rejoicing. I personally realized 2 things about rejection in my spiritual journey. First, the Bible gives many examples of rejection but two in particular influenced me most. The first is when God cast Lucifer out of heaven when he rebelled because he thought his plan was better than God's plan. I can imagine that Lucifer must have been riddled with feelings of rejection. That leads me to think what a great tool the feeling of rejection would be to use to torment God's people most. I mean, what a better way to hurt than for Satan to say, "I was rejected and I want you to feel how I felt. Follow me and blame God." It is because of this that I believe rejection is Satan's sharpest tool to hurt God's children. The second and more powerful example of rejection given is that of Jesus. Jesus suffered rejection from his own people, friends and even seemingly from his own Father. It was in a moment of great rejection in my life that I really pondered these examples. What I found was that in the midst of this hurt and pain I had never felt more connected to Christ. He knows this pain deeply and because of that He wants nothing more than to give me great comfort. I also know in my heart that He has my best interest in mind. So, I had a choice to make in the midst of my rejection. Was I going to get bitter, hateful, revengeful like Satan or was I going to let the experience of rejection unite me with Christ and let it mold my character in a way that would benefit God's kingdom? I chose to rejoice and draw near to the Lord and sure enough, I survived and now I can see, I'm a better human because of it. Don't let a feeling of rejection cut you down by the devil but rather unite with Christ
and rejoice.
